Claire Francesca Pettinati has a BA honors degree in Illustration from Kingston University, and a MA in Design from Brighton University. She also spent some time studying Fine Art at St. Petersburg Art Academy, Russia.
Claire started work as a freelance illustrator for 5 years and produced weekly paintings to appear in the travel section of the Observer for three years.
She had been creating vibrant paintings of London and it's skylines for some time, and sold her work to business and private clients, relying on regular commissions and her painting rental service.
She was sponsored to paint and exhibit in southern France by the French government, and has won 2 Prizes for The Macmillan Children's Book Award.
Claire Francesca Pettinati was born in England but subsequently spent the rest of her childhood in the warmth of Borneo, Malaysia, Venezuela, Kenya, Thailand and Oman, learning about light and color differences that each new climate brings. It is the traveling that inspires her to appreciate the unique qualities each city has to offer. London's landmarks and buildings, both impressively historic and cutting edge that co-exist harmoniously, inspired her to dedicate an entire exhibition to them.
Her first solo exhibition "Images of London" was at the Mall Galleries, London, April 13 - 22 2004. Visitors from far and wide flooded the gallery, and every painting was sold by the time the exhibition ended.
Claire Francesca Pettinati used to live and work in Trafalgar Square in London. Now she spends her time between Steyning, near Brighton, UK and North Side in Grand Cayman, where she finds inspiration for new material high up on the South Downs or on the beach respectively.
She has a family of 2 young children, a dog, and a husband. Not in that order.
